Situated at the SIA Sports Club, this cantonese style restaurant is opened to public…. The food there is generally alacarte seafood and chinese. I’ve a few dishes which I like and always order… The thai style Fish fillets, it’s fried fish fillets sprinkled with loads of appetizing onions, cucumber and a thai sweet sauce to create that mouth-watering flavour….the fish is so crisp it’s just like a snack… very addictive. for me, it’s the BEST on the menu.

The seafood Horfun is pretty good, considering the generous amount of ingredients and a really thick base… a MUST ORDER if you’re alone, it’s enough to fill up your stomach. But if you’re going with a group, you can order a bigger serving…. as a substitute for rice..

Food there is generally above average I think….only that location is not really accessible. Do visit the club if you’re around simei or changi area. OPEN TO PUBLIC…. nice environment, not too expensive. standard restaurant rates.

Address is 726 Upper Changi Road East SIA Sports Club

Umm. Pomelo Honey, hot pomelo honey drink should help the shivering to stop. It was bloody freezing that day. With that thought, I ordered the one thing. And thank god, i ordered the right thing. It even helped to whet my appetite a little. the other things that the others ordered, i didn’t find it appealing…may be due to the lack of appetite that very day, but i’m tellingya, the pomelo honey was GOOD….. Sour enough, though not too sour, and the pomelo juicy bits… I sure enjoyed my drink.

If you’re a pomelo fan, be sure to put that in your order list.

Quite some time ago, I was totally hooked onto Fish & Co. My sister brought me there once the first time and I had new york fish and chips. It was filling and very very delicious… fresh fish and chips in a pan.

From the second time onwards, I always ordered the Seafood Platter for 3, which includes mussels, calamari rings, fish and prawns and indonesian flavoured rice. about 30 dollars for a platter, it’s definitely a seafood feast for you and your mate, or another.

Last time round, i visited the Fish & Co at Tampines. Like before, i ordered the seafood platter, only that this time, I made a special request for less calamari rings and more mussels. The food came, and there were no calamari rings at all. There were a few more mussels than usual. I asked for the waiter, and he said he would check it out if they can change it for me. The manager arrived at the table shortly and asked what the problem was in a very polite manner. Then she said there’s no problem with adding a bowl of calamari rings and asked if i would like them fried or grilled. The extra bowl of calamari rings came, hot and skillfully fried. We were very happy with our food. At our departure, the manager came and apologised again, hand us her name card and wish us a good evening.

There ain’t many such good customer service managers around, and what the manager did really surprised us and made us leave as happy customers. It wasn’t so much the food, it was more the attention and the positive attitude that the staff at Fish & Co had.

The branch at Wheelock place is always cramped and packed and sometimes it takes about 20mins in the queue to get a table. But the quality is the same at all branches. Overall, my experiences at Fish & Co have been good.

Try the seafood platter the next time you go. Pat on the back, staff of Fish and Co!

If you think old-fashioned coffee shops are outdated and archaic, think again… Coming back strong with brand new outlooks of serving traditional coffee and tea are these entreprenuers who tap on that basic business idea of serving the typical singapore breakfast of coffee/tea, eggs and toast. Yakun’s one of those who’s started the trend…and now, there have been a host of competitors eager to fight for a share of that very rewarding business.

If you’ve got sentimental recollection of olden times and love to have a coffee within a cosy spot furnished with an olden gramophone, olden kitchenware and vintage furniture, visit TOASTBOX at Vivocity.

I went there a few weeks ago with some friends…totally loved it. I ordered ice holicks and the others ordered coffee. They were all very sweet, but there wasn’t any hesitation to add water to the beverages. We also ordered a variety of toast - shrimp toast and choco toasted sticks. They were all delicious and most important, reasonably priced.

A perfect place to hang out for the evening… Loved the ambience.

Coffee/Tea, SoftBoiled Eggs & Crunchy Crunchy Toast - The Singaporean Breakfast!

The famous singapore breaky used to be served only at neighbour coffeeshops - NOW, emerging giant YA KUN is everywhere!

Who would have thought it would become a rich business idea?? Fairplay to the owners of YA-Kun for having the brilliant foresight to instilling a little sophistication to our local breaky…. instead of the usual kaya and butter toast, YaKun has reinvented a lovely menu of french toast, cheesy toast, buttersugar toast, even choco toasted sticks! - You NAME IT!

Yakun kaya has a unique flavour and a very rich texture, you might think the eggs are dinosaur eggs due to the size of it, and the tea oh tea…I love the tea. Haven’t tried the coffee yet, coz i’m hooked onto the TEA!

But yea, it’s no longer just a meal in the morning, it’s become a rising trend that people drop in for teatime or a light supper!

Each set costs about 3.50-3.90, fairly filling.. service is quick and fairly good. They never hesitate to change my eggs one time and that impressed me. The coffeeshops, they sure can’t compete on that level of service.

For overseas visitors, log onto www.yakun.com for more info and the various places where they’re located.

Recently, my family seems to be addicted to Cafe Cartel. Like bees attracted to honey, we have been visiting the Serangoon outlet almost once every 2-3 weeks. Just this week alone, I went to cafe cartel twice, different outlets though

I like the serangoon outlet, parked in a very busy neighbourhood, the atmosphere is casual and the food is generally better, we all thought. Dad loves Cafe Cartel, he’s always craving for St.Louis Ribs and recently, the Hawaiian Pork Chops- Yummzmzmmz! I’m drooling

Comparatively, the other branches are always packed with loads of customers, the queues at dohby ghaut or marina square always freaks me out.

But yeah, what’s the fuss about Cafe Cartel? Lovely food, free flow bread, big portions served, most importantly, affordable and really mouthwatering. It’s hard to resist @_*

Celebrated my preggo colleague Joejoe’s farewell - off to birth delivery at Harbourcity. She said she couldn’t walk too far, so i decided, ok, take the elevator down to the 3rd floor, Dimsum for lunch!

7 of us went, we paid about 15 bucks each, filled our tummies up and left. It was a fantastic meal…not so much for joejoe, but if you lURVE prawns, it’s definitely the place to go for dimsum. 80% of the little lumpy dishes were all standing out proud with prawn as the main ingredient. Prawn lovers will definitely fancy that, but as a big prawn lover, even I felt it was just a little too much but saying that, everything was delicious…the siew mai, prawndumpling, chicken feet, charsiewbun, cheecheongfun and a fantastic salted egg and scallop fried dish….they were all really tasty.

Joe didn’t have much to eat, as she’s not a big fan of prawns, and the rest of us struggled to finish the big portions of food we ordered. but yeah, we all had a lovely time and went back to the office satisfied :0)

Not too bad for a dim sum restaurant I thought. 460 Alexandra Road, PSA Building. Nice cozy environment, typically chinese set up… comfy and posh enough for an office lunch!
