Local Cuisine At your FingerTips
Kasoh Restaurant - Cantonese Cuisine - SIA Sports Club
Filed under: Changi and Simei & Tanah Merah

Went several times to this restaurant.. forgot to add it into fooddemon…

Situated at the SIA Sports Club, this cantonese style restaurant is opened to public…. The food there is generally alacarte seafood and chinese. I’ve a few dishes which I like and always order… The thai style Fish fillets, it’s fried fish fillets sprinkled with loads of appetizing onions, cucumber and a thai sweet sauce to create that mouth-watering flavour….the fish is so crisp it’s just like a snack… very addictive. for me, it’s the BEST on the menu.

The seafood Horfun is pretty good, considering the generous amount of ingredients and a really thick base… a MUST ORDER if you’re alone, it’s enough to fill up your stomach. But if you’re going with a group, you can order a bigger serving…. as a substitute for rice..

Food there is generally above average I think….only that location is not really accessible. Do visit the club if you’re around simei or changi area. OPEN TO PUBLIC…. nice environment, not too expensive. standard restaurant rates.

Address is 726 Upper Changi Road East SIA Sports Club

Cafe Terra - VivoCity

On my farewell lunch, got treated to a beautiful meal at Cafe Terra. Most on the menu are reasonably priced. You could say it’s comparable to Cafe Cartel..generally speaking.

I ordered Grilled porkchop and the portion is nearly enough for two, or for a big appetite dude.

I thought it was fantastic, the brocolli soup was the perfect complement.

If you’re thinking the queue at food republic is too long and crowded, and you don’t really wanna go to a poshymama restaurant, here’s something that you might just fancy.

Really value for money..and cozy ambience, sure to set your night right.

Kim Gary - Best Honey Pomelo Drink EVER

0-menu0.jpg

That day i went to Kim Gary at Vivocity for the first time, I wasn’t exactly hungry, looked at the menu and see nothing appealing.

Umm. Pomelo Honey, hot pomelo honey drink should help the shivering to stop. It was bloody freezing that day. With that thought, I ordered the one thing. And thank god, i ordered the right thing. It even helped to whet my appetite a little. the other things that the others ordered, i didn’t find it appealing…may be due to the lack of appetite that very day, but i’m tellingya, the pomelo honey was GOOD….. Sour enough, though not too sour, and the pomelo juicy bits… I sure enjoyed my drink.

If you’re a pomelo fan, be sure to put that in your order list.

Unique Seafood - Tailor-Made Seafood & the Best Drunken Prawns in Town

restaurant.jpg

A few months ago, I visited Unique Seafood Market at the old Turf Club. Lovely place to dine, but location is not easily accessible, you’ll definitely need a car.

60 tanks of live seafood, you could choose the seafood you love and have it cooked the way you want.

I tried the drunken prawns…..BEST in town i have to say. Really fresh from the tank, so scucculent and just yummy! the lala was fantastic and so are some other shellfood. those on the menu… no special compliment, it was just ok. baby Kailan was good, the baby squid wasn’t quite up to standard. Service was fantastic..

next time i go, lesson learnt. order only the live seafood range. :) try the drunken prawns if you do go…

Seafood in a Pan - Fish & Co - Good Customer Service
Filed under: Tampines and Town

Quite some time ago, I was totally hooked onto Fish & Co. My sister brought me there once the first time and I had new york fish and chips. It was filling and very very delicious… fresh fish and chips in a pan.

From the second time onwards, I always ordered the Seafood Platter for 3, which includes mussels, calamari rings, fish and prawns and indonesian flavoured rice. about 30 dollars for a platter, it’s definitely a seafood feast for you and your mate, or another.

Last time round, i visited the Fish & Co at Tampines. Like before, i ordered the seafood platter, only that this time, I made a special request for less calamari rings and more mussels. The food came, and there were no calamari rings at all. There were a few more mussels than usual. I asked for the waiter, and he said he would check it out if they can change it for me. The manager arrived at the table shortly and asked what the problem was in a very polite manner. Then she said there’s no problem with adding a bowl of calamari rings and asked if i would like them fried or grilled. The extra bowl of calamari rings came, hot and skillfully fried. We were very happy with our food. At our departure, the manager came and apologised again, hand us her name card and wish us a good evening.

There ain’t many such good customer service managers around, and what the manager did really surprised us and made us leave as happy customers. It wasn’t so much the food, it was more the attention and the positive attitude that the staff at Fish & Co had.

The branch at Wheelock place is always cramped and packed and sometimes it takes about 20mins in the queue to get a table. But the quality is the same at all branches. Overall, my experiences at Fish & Co have been good.

Try the seafood platter the next time you go. Pat on the back, staff of Fish and Co!
